Toddler and newborns. Tips for keeping jealousy at bay.

Toddlers and Newborns

Introducing a toddler to a newborn can be quite a challenge.? After all, until now your toddler may well have been the one and only and little did she think there?d be competition.? While how a toddler responds to a new baby can be as varied as toddlers themselves, there are ways you can help ease your young child into this very big life change, says Kaz Cooke author of Kid Wrangling.

?I think the best thing you can do when bringing home a new baby is to prepare your toddler as much as possible, and to give them a role. Often people will give a toddler a doll and perhaps practice and pretend that it?s their baby, so that they?ve got their baby and then Mommy?s got the new baby. And I know that it does help a lot of people once the new baby has come, for someone else, a dad or a gramma, to take the baby so that the mom has absolutely one-on-one time with that toddler so they don?t feel too left out.?
